If you are looking for relief from the symptoms of stress you are carrying and renewal from the burnout you are experiencing – Group Forest Therapy may be for you.

Stress and burnout can occur in any part of our body and our lives and has long reaching effects on our wellbeing.

Taking place over three Sunday afternoons in October, join us as we come together in community to access the healing power of nature to address our stress and burnout symptoms. Group forest therapy sessions will take place in a small group no larger than 8 participants. In this intimate group, we will journey through healing in nature to find relief and renewal.

Co-facilitated by Registered Psychotherapist and Forest Therapy Guide, Randi Micklewright and Naturopathic Doctor and Shamanic Practitioner, Jada MacLeod, we will examine the parts of us asking for healing though mindful practices in nature to heal our mind, body and spirit.

People experiencing burnout often tell us...

  • I wake up in the morning already wanting to call in sick to work

  • I hope for a minor injury or event that could prevent me from going to work for a few days

  • I find myself resenting all the roles that I have in my life (parent, caregiver, employee, partner...) and immediately feel guilty for feeling that way

  • I can't go to sleep because of my spinning thoughts about all the things I have to do and then wake up exhausted thinking about it all again

  • I don't feel joy in my life anymore

What is Group Forest Therapy?

Group Forest Therapy is a series of group psychotherapy sessions that take place in a forest setting. It involves walking and sitting in an outdoor location, such as a nature trail, while engaging in talk therapy and healing processes in a small group.

This group forest therapy will be co-facilitated by Randi Micklewright, Registered Psychotherapist and Forest Therapy Guide, and Dr. Jada MacLeod, Naturopathic Doctor. There will be a maximum of 8 participants and we will meet for three, 4-hour sessions on three consecutive Sunday afternoons in October at Enniskillen Conservation Area.

Group Forest Therapy Frequently Asked Questions

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

Traditionally, therapy sessions are 50-minutes in duration. I offer 50-minute and 75-minute appointments.
Some people find that 75-minute appointments fit their needs better, and some find that 50-minute appointments are better. We can discuss what best meets your needs during our consultation.

DO YOU ACCEPT EXTENDED HEALTH BENEFITS?

Many insurance companies cover psychotherapy as part of their extended health benefits. It depends on the specific plan that you have, if you have one.
It is highly recommended that you check with your individual benefit and insurance policy before engaging in therapy if you think psychotherapy services are covered.
Also, according to the Canadian Revenue Agency, receipts for psychotherapy can be submitted as medical expenses on your personal income tax.

HOW LONG WILL I BE IN THERAPY?

The therapeutic process is based on individual issues, needs and readiness for therapy. Therefore, the answer to this question is as unique as the individual.
Some people come for a few sessions and feel that they have achieved their goals, some people attend long-term as part of their regular health care practice.
This is typically discussed as time progresses in therapy and we determine whether your goals for therapy have been reached or not.

WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

The rate for a 50-minute appointment is $140 + HST.
The rate for a 75-minute appointment is $200 + HST.
Payments can be made via credit card or e-transfer.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GO TO THERAPY?

When we meet for our initial 15-minute consultation we will discuss the frequency of appointments that will meet your goals. Typically, weekly appointments are most appropriate during the first few weeks of therapy, and then bi-weekly after that.

The frequency of your appointments may shift and change as time goes on and we discuss your progress towards your goals. You are always in control of when and how often you attend appointments. It is recommended that appointments are at the same day and time each week/bi-weekly.
