While working as a teacher and educational consultant, I experienced first-hand how much of a toll the demands of the classroom and school environment take on each of us. I witnessed how diligently and passionately teachers, educational assistants, administrators and support staff worked through some of the most challenging circumstances they had ever seen in their career.

I decided to go back to school and get my Masters of Counselling in order to support educators in a different way. It is my commitment to support the mental health and well being of education workers, so that the impact will carry to your families, colleagues, students, classrooms, and schools.
MY STYLE AND APPROACH
There are numerous guiding principals I bring to my therapy sessions. I believe that connection - with others, with ourselves, with nature - is necessary to live a fulfilled life. These connections can be nurtured through a person-centred, strengths-based approach, and by providing a safe, welcoming atmosphere to facilitate the healing process.
I also believe strongly in a holistic approach to healing. I believe that healing takes place in the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of ourselves. Training I have pursued to support this philosophy of healing include Narrative Therapy, Forest Therapy, mindfulness training and somatic therapies.

MY OTHER PASSIONS
Although I wear a lot of hats (as we all do!!) the most important one I wear is the 'mom' hat.
I am a mom to a 15-year-old and a 12-year-old, and a bonus mom to an 18-year-old and a 22-year-old. When I'm not with you in a counselling session, you can usually find me at the riding barn or the ice rink!

As you can see from the images on this website, I love nature and the outdoors.
Camping, specifically backcountry camping, and spending time in nature is how I fill my own cup and is my most cherished form of self-care. If you're into camping as well, I'd love to hear all about your adventures.
